Daily Announcements for the Week of 3/5/18

  • Come see Legacy Theatre’s annual One Act Play, Silent Sky by Lauren Gunderson. The show tells the true story of Henrietta Leavitt – a female astronomer in early 20th Century America. The Public performance of Silent Sky will be one night only! March 5th at 4 and 7 p.m. in the Legacy PAC. Admission is FREE, so don’t miss this show!
  • SAGU (Southwestern Assemblies of God University) will be on campus to speak with any interested students during all lunches on March 6th.
  • Please join us in the Legacy gym for FCA game night on Monday at 6:00 pm for pizza and dodgeball. We will have a guest speaker as well. Join us in the fun any student at Legacy is welcome.
  • The deadline for the Six Flags trip has been pushed back to March 9th for all you procrastinators who haven’t turned in your permission forms or had to wait until payday! This will be the FINAL deadline. The trip INCLUDES park admission, a photo voucher, a meal voucher and a drink and costs only $48.50. The trip is a school related absence and doesn’t count against exemptions. You get to hang with your friends and have a good time during a school day. Bring those forms in to Ms. Anderson or Mrs. Pena as quickly as you can.   We don’t want to go without you… but we will!      
  • Students: Please join us after school in the library on Monday, March 5 for our Faculty Read-Aloud. Mr. Cousins and Mrs. Arambula will share excerpts from The Color of Water, as James McBride, son of a Jewish mother and a Black Father, and then raised by a stepfather, explores the question: WHAT IS FAMILY? Snacks will be provided for the 1st 50 students to arrive. Time can be used for Extra Credit or Make-up hours upon teacher or AP approval. Make plans to attend.
  • On Saturday, February 24, the Legacy High School Silver Elite Show Choir competed at the Lone Star Show Choir Invitational in Keller.  Silver Elite advanced to the finals of the competition and was awarded 5th Runner Up following their finals performance.  In addition, Hannah Morris was awarded the medal for Best Female Soloist.  Congratulations to Hannah and the Silver Elite Show Choir!

  • The JROTC Battalion competed in the 2018 Tarleton State University ROTC Drill Competition this past Saturday and these are the results:

  • On Saturday, March 3, 2018, 29 soloists and 1 madrigal from Legacy High School competed in the Mansfield ISD Solo/Ensemble Contest. I am pleased to announce that 24 soloists as well as the madrigal earned the highest rating of Superior on their performance. The singers earning this outstanding recognition are as follows: Grade 3 Solo: Blaire Bussey, Jaivia Conoway, Lilian Holman, Liz Rivas Grade 2 Solo: Aryssa Dominick, Maggie Howard, Mikaela Settle, Katy Stendebach, Aaron Wu Grade 1 Solo: Maya Akins, William Bradley, Kennedy Carroll, David Darmon, Tyler Dixon, Jenni Johnson, Emily Ledesma, Autumn Mallard, Arianna Monroe, Stacie Morton, Alessandra Murrey, Frankie Reisinger, Garrick Scott, Brittyn Sutton, Sarah Weissend Grade 1 Madrigal: Ethan Brinkman, Nicole Cantrell, McKenna Collier, Peter Contreras, David Darmon, Ryan Rutherford, Brittyn Sutton, Azalia Velasquez Congratulations to all students who participated!

  • Interact Club: We will be meeting Wednesday after school in the counseling office to discuss our next project. Mr. Galleher will also be attending. See you Wednesday after school!

  • Update to the Six Flags trip!   Is $48.50 for the whole trip too expensive? You can sign up to go from now until Friday for only $36.00! That’s right! $36 will get you into the park and you’ll still get a photo voucher! You’ll have to bring some cash to the park to get some food and drinks, but If you’d like to go with us on the cheap… $36 will get you on the bus with us! This is the LAST week to sign up for a day of fun with your friends at Six Flags on March 23. See Ms. Anderson in T-204 or Ms. Pena in the second floor AP office for a permission form.

  • Key Club is having a fundraiser night at Chickfila on Thursday, March 8 from 5 - 8. Please mention Legacy Key Club when ordering.

  • In light of the tragic event that happened in Florida a few weeks ago, Superintendent Dr. Vaszauskas will be visiting our campus to talk about school safety on Friday, March 9th @ 10:00 AM in the Legacy PAC. Dr. V is committed to the safety and security of all students and staff members, so please feel free to share any questions or comments that you may have at that time. If you would like to attend this meeting with Dr. V, please come down to the front receptionist desk today to sign up. A pass will be delivered to your 6th period class tomorrow – March 9th.

  • Students if you are serving a Saturday School today, you must report to T222, Mr. Sudbury’s room, by 3:00 today.

  • Juniors and Seniors: Put in Down, Save a Life will be here before you know it. If you are interested in being a participant of this annual, life-changing event scheduled for May 1 and 2nd, be sure to stop by the 2nd floor AP office for an information sheet and permission slip.
